Golf Tips - Tips To Improve Your Putting

December 28th, 2008

If you are seriously considering lowering your scores, then you must take your putting seriously, as roughly half the strokes you play in a round of golf are likely to be on the putting green. However good you are at driving, pitching and chipping, if your putting is not up to standard, you will never make the next level. My Dad told me the famous quote when I was probably about 12 or 13, ‘Drive for show putt for dough’, this says it all! That is why it is quite incredible that putting is not often concentrated on.

Tips for setup:

First of all I’d just like to say that there is no one correct putting grip/posture/stroke, there are wide variations, so if your technique is different, don’t worry, some of the top golfers have very different putting actions e.g. Bernhard Langer, Ben Crenshaw and Tom Watson all have very different techniques. These are basic tips that can be applied to most techniques to help improve your game.

An ideal putting stroke should strike the ball on the up, to do this the ball should be placed opposite the inside of the left heal (for a right hander), this results in the ball being hit on the up and top spin is generated.

In relation to setup, the hands should be either inline with the ball or ahead of the ball, if the hands are behind the ball, then a clean consistent strike of the ball is not likely, and the common result is the ball popping up in the air.

Tension on the green is one the most destructive things that can happen to your putting, especially with the short putts, this is known as getting the ‘yips’, this is caused by moving during the stroke. This causes you to ‘fluff’ your shot and miss your putt. To avoid this happening, concentrate on the spot where the ball was after impact rather than following the ball. This ensures that you do not move your head during impact and will help give you the clean smooth impact you require.

A simple technique to reduce the tension in the body and the stroke is simply to let your arms dangle in front of you before you putt and gently shake them. This should relax your muscles enabling an enhanced sensation of feel and touch, both vital for reliable consistent putting.

Tips for the swing

Your grip should not be too tight, and your arms should be relaxed. Gently and smoothly in a one piece action, sweep the putter backwards. It is important to keep the triangle formed between your arms and the line joining your shoulders consistent through the whole shot and the shape should not change. The move backwards should be like a pendulum movement with your arms, while your wrists remain stiff. A good tip for making sure that this is correct is by starting the action by dropping your left shoulder; this will get the pendulum motion started.

Keeping the triangle mentioned before in tact, in a pendulum motion, accelerate the putter smoothly through the ball; the ball should be hit on the up. Throughout this whole period, keep your eyes fixed on the ball to avoid fluffing the putt and keep the eyes fixed on that spot after impact.

It is vital after impact that the left wrist remains firm and does not break; the follow-through should go inline with the direction you were aiming and should be the same length as the backswing.

Key points

Try and relax before playing the stroke, this will help enhance your feel and touch and help avoid the yips due to excess tension

The stroke should be a pendulum action swinging with your shoulders and arms while the wrists remain stiff.

Don’t move your head during the swing.

Swing in a relaxed smooth fashion with a smooth and constant rhythm.

Keep the wrists firm throughout the stroke.

Play the ball from underneath the eyes.

Have the ball in the front of the stance to ensure that the ball is hit on the up.

Mont Blanc Grows in Volume since 2000 as Announced by Scientists

December 28th, 2008

Fresh careful Global Positioning System measurements made on the 15-16th Oct have proven that Mont Blanc amounts to 4810.5 metres. Mont Blanc is smothered by a heavy ice cap which has grown bigger by 2.8 m in barely 2 yrs furthermore more suprisingly the amount of the ice and snow has all but doubled up . At any rate that is according to the professionals.

The bulk of ice and snow was worked out for the inaugural time in 2002. It was measured at 14000 metres cubed above 4780 m. It was merely 13600 meters cubed in 2002 perchance due to the warmth with plus temp even at 4850 metres height. Nonetheless the ice has virtually increased twofold since then and today measures 21000 metres cubed.

Chamonix Mont Blanc’s respected local weather man Joann Russ stated the growth in the mass of the ice cap is among the contrary outcomes of climate change: Snow has not expanded overall in the Alps merely with the climate change we’re seeing more hot westerly winds which bring in rainfall lower down but during summertime this means heavy snowfall that settles above 4000 meters altitude thus the mass bulk of the ice cap is growing. Compare that to the state of affairs during wintertime where the snow crystals are very cold and are carried by air currents and so don’t settle on the peak.

The Father Of Virtual Real Estate Investing Comments On His Industry

December 28th, 2008

Virtual Real Estate Investing” is a relatively new concept. There are many variations on what this term means, encompassing everything from using the internet to aid in real estate investing efforts to participating in online games such as SecondLife.

To get the facts, I sought out the man generally considered to be the father of virtual real estate investing: Bryan Ellis.

Ellis says he adopted the term “virtual real estate investing” sometime before Y2K after he realized that making money online is conceptually very similar to making money with physical real estate.

One example of the parallels between virtual and physical real estate Bryan Ellis cites is the similarity between the monetization of domain names versus physical property. He points out that control of a domain name or even a specific web page is much like controlling a real estate property ” those assets can be monetized in similar ways: By selling them for a profit, by leasing them, by offering advertising, etc.

I must admit: Its easy to see the parallels. Consider: A valuable piece of real estate is valuable largely due to the interest that other people have in that specific location. Likewise, if you own a desirable domain name, others will find value in it because it serves their purposes. In either case, you could sell or lease the asset and turn it into cash.

In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing, Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.

An Answer for Saltwater Fishing - a GPS Fishfinder that Works, At Last

December 26th, 2008

Finding a fishfinder for use in harsh saltwater can be difficult. Could the Eagle SeaChamp be an answer at last? Find out in our review.

The Eagle Sea Champ 2000C is a great tool for any fisherman from the beginner to the professional. It allows for many features that can easily help you be more successful on the water. You’ll find that it has a great selection of features to use as well. Here, we’ll talk about some of the 2000C’s features that we think help it to stand out as an excellent fish finding tool.

The Sea Champ 2000’s display is probably the first feature you will notice. It is a large seven inches which gives you the quality size display that you need to see those details this Eagle fish finder provides. It is ultra bright so as to be visable in any type of environment (nothing worse than having equipment you can’t use because the sun is too bright!) It is a full VGA, 256 color matrix LCD and it is in high definition 480V by 640H resolution. It features a backlight so that you can fish in the dark as well as the sun (great for those early mornings or evening trips!) This all translates into a great quality screen that is clear, crisp and easy to use. You’ll benefit from the size and the clarity of this screen as it will allow you to see clearly what’s happening below.

Other features that make the 2000C DF so great include its ability to record. This is a great tool for any fishing trip as it will allow you to play back details to give you more of a look at your objects.

But, what we really have to mention is the sonar on this fish finder. It has a depth capability of 1500 feet! The Seachamp technology separates fish from nearby structure and bottom and to show underwater targets in different sizes of fish symbols. This high performance dual frequency transducer is simple awesome. It gives you the depth you need to see what’s happening far below your boat. And, it offers this reliability as you race over the waves at up to 70 miles an hour. This fish finder will allow for the most sensitive of fish finding.

Anyone who is looking for highly usable tools to locate their fish simply needs to check out this one! Highly recommended as a tool for the hard-to-please saltwater fisherman.

Whitewater kayaks

December 25th, 2008

Whitewater kayaking is an extreme form of kayaking.

Whitewater kayaking is kayaking taken to an extreme. This is basically the combination of whitewater rafting, except that you are in a kayak instead of a raft. This sport has been gaining popularity in recent years, and has even been included in the Summer Olympics of 2004.

Whitewater kayaking is definitely not for the faint of heart, as it generally involves some of the roughest rivers around. People who go whitewater kayaking should have a lot of experience kayaking in rivers and rough water. They should also make sure that they know exactly what type of kayak they need to use.

The kayaks used for whitewater kayaking generally need to be sturdier than most other kayaks due to the beating that they will probably get from being in the river. Two person kayaks are not used for whitewater kayaking because it’s too dangerous to have more than one person in the kayak while going over whitewater. The single person kayaks themselves can vary between whether or not they’re short or long - this generally depends on what aspects of the kayak the person kayaking wants to emphasize.

There are several different types of whitewater kayaking as well. If you’re just going to be whitewater kayaking for fun, then you’re more than likely just going to be something called “river running.” What this means is that you take your kayak and go down a whitewater river. These rivers are generally not the roughest, and there are sometimes some flat parts as well as rapids. River running can either be a day excursion, or it might be a week long adventure down a river. This is a great choice for somebody experienced in kayaking.

Some people find that it’s fun to participate in playboating or rodeo. Basically what this entails is staying near the same part of a river and using the same rapids to do tricks. This is a much harder part of whitewater kayaking, so it’s less likely that you’ll find somebody who knows how to do it.

The last thing that people usually think of when they think of whitewater kayaking is what is known as “creeking”. This is the most extreme type of whitewater kayaking, and involves taking a kayak through some of the roughest whitewater in the entire world. This type of kayaking is usually done as a part of some sort of competition, or by people who are looking for an extreme whitewater kayaking experience.

No matter what type of whitewater kayaking you’re looking into starting, make sure that you’re prepared for what you’ll be doing. Since whitewater kayaking is an extreme form of kayaking, you need to be sure that you’re following all of the safety advice, and that you have all of the necessary kayaking equipment.

a rose with no thorns

December 24th, 2008

A Rose with No Thorn In love’s Garden, the bouquet of life There bloomed a rose whose beauty caught my eye Incomparable is this rose’s design Unlike the others, she is not the prickling kind I know they say that every rose has its thorn But here blooms the exception, of the spirit she is born One of a kind, the rarest in form For she is a rose with no thorn Oh what a fragrance, so lovely and fair A scent of sincerity sweeps through the air A pristine beauty from the realms up above For she is the flower primeval of love And as I bask in her blossoms of compassion I find I am fashioned by love that’s everlasting And in my heart she’ll always be adorned For she is a rose with no thorn Though weeds, thorns and thistles have tried to choke her The rain has wet her; the sun has even scorched her But she’ll not wither, neither will she wilt For she is rooted in the love that God has tilled Amidst great turmoil, never to be foiled Arrayed in glory that could never ever toil One of a kind, yes the rarest in form For she is a rose with no thorn Copyright2008 by Kenneth J Thompson

USC Trojans

December 24th, 2008

“Trojans garner top rated recruiting class”-

With the recruiting season finally coming to an end the USC Trojans, seemingly depleted from all the early entries throughout its star studded roster as well as losing valuable players who ran out of eligibility, had to find replacements for all the departed talent and came away with the No.1 rated recruiting class in the nation narrowly edging out the University of Florida for that honor.

The USC Trojans signed 14 of the top 100 prep players in the nation The USC Trojans 2006 class may be one of the best in school history, due to the fact that several of the players can play numerous positions such as S/WR Taylor Mays (6-3 218) from Seattle, Washington who is a 10.5 sprinter with a ‘37 inch vertical leap and is considered the top Safety prospect in all the land, WR/DB Vidal Hazelton from Chatham,Virginia who received the highest player grade in the country with an 8.3 due to his freakish combination of size (6-3 200) and speed (4.47)

It almost seems unfair that the USC Trojans were able to lure so many talented prep stars from all around the country, many positions (RB,DB) which were a concern of the coaching staff due to depth are now now team strenghts.

Running Back was a need and the USC Trojans got 4 of the best in the nation with the two headliners being Stafon Johnson(5-11, 200,4.4) from Los Angeles Dorsey H.S. and Emmanuel Moody (6-1, 195, 4.4) from Coppell(Texas)) H.S, both should be able to contributed immediately, this group will ensure the 4-time defending Pacific Ten Conference Champion USC Trojans of being a national power for the foreseable future.

Here’s the complete list of USC Trojans signees: Kenny Ashley RB Venice H.S., Walker Lee Ashley DT Eden Prairie,MN, David Ausberry WR Leemore,Ca, Allen Bradford LB Colton,Ca, C.J. Gable RB/S Sylmar,Ca, Garrett Green QB Sherman Oaks,Ca, Stanley Havili FB/RB Salt Lake City,UT, Zack Heberer OL San Pedro,Ca, Jamere Holland WR/DB Woodland Hills,Ca, Vincent Joseph DB Long Beach,Ca ,Butch Lewis DT Aurora,Co, Anthony McCoy TE Fresno,Ca, Michael Morgan LB Dallas,Tx, Alex Parsons DT Irvine,Ca ,Travon Patterson WR Long Beach,Ca , Antwine Perez DB Camden,Nj, Alfred Rowe DB Long Beach,Ca ,Derek Simmons DE Fairfield,Ca ,Joshua Tatum LB Oakland,Ca ,Gerald Washington TE Rancho Cucamonga,Ca ,Shareece Wright DB Colton,Ca in additon to the stars mentioned above.

With the addition of these standouts the USC Trojans have 40 players on their roster who will play in the NFL, according to one NFL general manager, a truly scary thought to all the opponents who have the USC Trojans on the schedule.

Baseball Ticket Sales

December 23rd, 2008

Red Sox fans have already bought more than two million tickets for the upcoming 2006 home schedule at “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark”, Fenway Park, and Boston is well on its way to break last year’s record-setting ticket sales. There are many other examples of rising ticket sales in baseball, and now, with the advent of the World Baseball Classic, baseball ticket sales should see another rise in popularity.

Red Sox reportedly sold 2,135,540 tickets through the 28-29 January weekend, when tickets for most single games went on sale. Through the same dates in 2005, 2,079,909 tickets were sold out. The club hopes to sell more than 2.8 million tickets in 2006, which means several hundred thousand tickets are still available for sale for most games.

Red Sox fans have sold out 226 consecutive regular-season games, the second-longest streak in Major League Baseball history. The team sold a record 2,847,888 tickets in 2005. The club has also established attendance records each of the past six seasons.

Sales for full season tickets to Nationals games in 2005 came to 15,000 requests. Deposits for nearly 15,000 full season packages were accepted for the 2005 season, to be played out at the RFK Stadium in Washington D.C.

Using an average ticket price of $22 ($1,682.00) for a full season package, the projected income generated would be $26,730,000. Partial packages went on sale on January 1, 2005, after the seating assignments for full package sales were completed.

The Baltimore Orioles average 30,302 ticket sales per game, placing them at number eleven of thirty teams in Major League Baseball.

Wiffle Ball Baseball Teaches Pitching and Hitting Skills and Builds Confidence

December 23rd, 2008

The game of wiffle ball is lots of fun, and teaches many skills that are valuable in baseball and softball. Kids play it because it’s fun and can be played anywhere. You can play in your backyard, in the street, in a field, on a baseball diamond, and even the beach. The wiffle ball itself is lightweight and won’t break any windows, and won’t hurt children if a pitch hits them. The wiffle ball bat is lightweight and can be handled by children of nearly any age.

Children that play wiffle ball are actually building their self-confidence. As a pitcher, the wiffle ball will spin, curve, and wiggle in almost any direction. As a hitter, a child gains confidence in swinging the wiffle ball bat and hearing the crack of the bat hitting the ball. All of these confidence-building skills will help when the child plays baseball or softball. You can find books and videos to learn baseball and softball by visiting http://www.2PlayBall.com and you can also learn by doing: so play ball and enjoy the game as you learn more and become better.

Wiffle-ball baseball pitching mechanics and technique:

A pitcher in the game of wiffle ball can throw the ball with spins and curves, depending on the type of pitching grip. Holding the ball differently will cause the ball to be a curveball, slider, sinker, floater, fastball, or any other kind of pitch. Thanks to the lightweight nature of the wiffle ball, a young player can try different stances and pitching mechanics and techniques. A pitcher can throw side-arm or overhead. The pitcher can even switch and use their non-preferred throwing arm. A right-handed pitcher could try pitching left-handed, and a left-handed pitcher could choose to try being a right-handed pitcher. The simple grip of the ball and the lightweight wiffle ball can allow this experimentation.

Wiffle-ball baseball hitting mechanics and technique freedom:

A child who is up at bat with a wiffle ball bat can swing the bat much faster that he/she could with a much heavier bat. This new-found baseball swing freedom can increase a child’s confidence and boost batting mechanics and technique.
A right-handed baseball hitter could tryout a left-handed baseball hitting stance. Or, a left-handed baseball hitter could tryout a right-handed baseball hitting stance. A child could become a switch hitter!

Baseball fielding mechanics and technique:

The wiffle ball is not only a tricky ball to hit, it is also very tricky to field. When the wiffle ball is hit in the air, it can spin off the bat and thus fly in a surprising fashion. Once the wiffle ball hits the ground, it will react to any tiny tree branch or pebble on the ground. These quick bounces and direction changes are excellent for practicing fielding techniques for youth baseball players. The child is required to keep their eye on the ball at all times, and they must quickly react to any sudden change in direction. The quick bounce of a wiffle ball hit on the ground will keep a child light on their feet and give them lighting-fast hand reflexes for fielding techniques.

Backyard baseball fun anytime:

A game of wiffle ball builds many skills and coordination for baseball players of all ages. It’s easy, it’s fun, and it can be played anywhere!
